“La Familia” graces the entry of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, adding to its extensive offering of public art and cultural activities.
Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is celebrated for the warm welcome with which it greets guests, and for its family-friendly ambiance. Paying tribute to both of these values is a new monumental bronze sculpture, “La Familia”, located at the entry of the Resort. Created by artist Alicia Bueno, it is the most recent addition to Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita’s inspiring collection of public art for guests to enjoy.
La Familia is among the more than thirty works of art on display throughout Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. Each has been specifically located amidst the gracious grounds and tropical natural environment to enhance both the art itself, as well as its setting. The Resort has made a commitment to this public art program, viewing it as a logical extension to the omnipresent natural beauty of Punta Mita.
About Alicia Bueno
Originally from Mexico City, Alicia Bueno has been immersed in art and culture since she was a child, as art was always present in her home. At 16, she started taking lessons and working alongside Mexican artist Jorge Alarcón, renowned for his work in figurative modern, in his studio. There, she also began leading painting and sculpting workshops for children. A scholarship to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence took her to Italy, where she had the privilege working on the sculptures of La Scala de Milán, one of the most famous Opera theatres in the world. She returned to Mexico – first to Valle de Bravo and Cuernavaca, near her home city – where she started both schools and galleries. In 1999 she moved to Puerto Vallarta, where she has remained since, exhibiting in a number of the fine art galleries located in this acclaimed art community, and where she has her atelier.
Alicia has participated in numerous private and collective exhibitions in Mexico and abroad. Her work includes sculptures in bronze, marble, stone, wood, metal and glass reliefs. Along with selling her own pieces, Alicia also does private commissions, of all sizes and materials. She has done a number of custom family sculptures, creating a work of legacy art for her clients. Her smaller sculptures and other works of art are featured at The Boutiques of Punta Mita, located adjacent to the portico entry of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita.
For guests who want to immerse themselves hands-on with regional art, two palapas are set up near the beach where ethnic merchandise is available for sale, and handicraft workshops are available. This provides the opportunity to interact with, and create art using the different techniques used in Pre Hispanic cultures, and results in a more complete understanding of the meaning of colors patterns and figures used in Mexican art. Workshops include:
- Ocarina Painting – Hand painting Pre-Hispanic musical instruments.
- Huichol custom-made T-shirts – painted with indigenous characters using different stencils.
- Huichol Beaded Art – Guests are shown how the process begins, how wax is used in the art, and various Huichol beaded pattern creations.
- Aztec horoscope – A personal horoscope pendant, and explanation of the main characteristics and personality of each symbol.
Other amenities of Four Seasons Punta Mita are equally attracting, from the stellar beaches, three stunning pool complexes, championship Jack Nicklaus Signature golf, specialized surf program, Apuane Spa, popular Kids for All Seasons activity program and acclaimed dining venues.
