Celebrating the Feast of
Saint Peter and Saint Paul
in Punta Mita

The celebration Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul the patron saints' of our Church in Punta Mita begins with the patron saints' novena (a nine-day celebration) and concludes on June 29.  Each day begins and ends with the traditional cohetes (sky rockets) starting at sun up and then again at sundown. There are processions "Peregrinaciónes" to the church for the daily rosary.  Each night there are special activities including group confirmations, baptisms, and first communions along with games, dance and rides for the entire nine days.

The final "Peregrinación" on June 29 begins with floats of decorated trucks driving through the streets of Punta Mita.   Each float has been decorated with flowers and children are dressed up to honor many different Saints.

As the "Peregrinación" passes though town; people join the group walking to the church accompanied by musicians and song.  The procession ends at the plaza in front of the church for the fiesta's closing Mass.

Late in the evening of the last night a castillo, a wonderful tower of fireworks, is lit and brilliantly lights up the night sky.
