Punta de Mita Foundation Fifth Fundraising Gala 2011

This past Sat­ur­day Novem­ber 26th, the Punta de Mita Foun­da­tion held its fifth fundrais­ing Gala at the HAIXIA devel­op­ment located in Litibu. Haixia was very gen­er­ous in host­ing and fully under­writ­ing the event so that 100% of the pro­ceeds would go directly to the Foundation.

The event was attended by many Punta Mita area Res­i­dents who were given a pre­sen­ta­tion of the Foun­da­tions work and achieve­ments by found­ing Board Mem­ber and MC for the evening, Greg Stan­ton. Those present also enjoyed a play that was writ­ten and per­formed by area High School Stu­dents high­light­ing the impact that trash has on us and our environment.

Dur­ing his pre­sen­ta­tion, Greg Stan­ton gave spe­cial thanks to all the com­mit­tees that now work within the foun­da­tion including:

The Edu­ca­tion com­mit­tee: Headed by Beth Fuller, this project has done tremen­dous work with the local Kinder­gar­den is com­mit­ted to fol­low­ing the kids as they move up the lad­der. Edu­ca­tion in gen­eral is a key area for the foundation

Senior cen­ter com­mit­tee: Ren­o­va­tion of this cen­ter was done in 2011 so that the com­mu­nity elders had a loca­tion where they could hold their weekly meet­ing in a clean and func­tional facil­ity Trash com­mit­tee: This project has been and con­tin­ues to be funded by the Men’s Lun­cheon group headed by Punta Mita res­i­dent Charles Ewell.

This groups com­mit­ment has meant that the high­way from La Cruz to Punta Mita has been kept clean for the past three years and is now mov­ing in the direc­tion of clean­ing and edu­cat­ing the peo­ple not to throw trash on the roads. A spe­cial recog­ni­tion was made for Char­lie Ewell who could not be present.

The Angels Ladies group: This spe­cial group of ladies estab­lished funded a Nutri­tion and health pro­gram that was well received by the com­mu­nity and will con­tinue to fol­low up on this pro­gram to insure that the good work started con­tin­ues. Sandy Howe made a pre­sen­ta­tion of the Angels work and invited oth­ers to join in their endeavors.

Sports com­mit­tee: This com­mit­tee, headed up by Ran­chos res­i­dent Peter New­ton, just fin­ished the con­struc­tion stage of one of the most visual and impor­tant projects the foun­da­tion has done to date. The new Sports Cen­ter for the com­mu­ni­ties of Coral del Risco and Emil­iano Zap­ata was for­mally inau­gu­rated at an event on after­noon of the 26th.

The inau­gu­ra­tion was attended by Board Mem­bers, Sports Com­mit­tee mem­bers, Local and munic­i­pal offi­cials and of course many of the local fam­i­lies who will enjoy this facil­ity for years to come.

In clos­ing, Greg Stan­ton thanked all who have par­tic­i­pated in the foun­da­tions work cit­ing his words at the first foun­da­tion event held four years ago when he stated “tonight is the begin­ning of a new chap­ter in the lives of those who live in our sur­round­ing communities”.

“Thanks to those who have served on the board, its com­mit­tees and most of all the donors, lives have been changed and the com­mu­nity has improved”. “With your con­tin­ued sup­port the Punta de Mita Foun­da­tion and its com­mit­tees will con­tinue to bring for­ward new projects that will con­tinue to improve the qual­ity of life for those that live in our sur­round­ing communities”.
