This Meeting is the first Brazilian initiative to reunite an impressive number of business people to strengthen bonds and debate about important issues between corporations and governments of different countries. “This is a great opportunity to bring the relationship between Brazil and Mexico closer. We shall be able to develop a synergy of proposals that can certainly contribute to the improvement of the economic and cultural exchange between both countries” affirms João Doria Jr., president of LIDE.
The main event shall be the International Seminar, held on the 12th of October, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort. This seminar is an opportunity to hear renowned figures in Brazilian politics and business that will cover topics about both countries.
Among the speakers are the economist and President of LIDE Economy, Paulo Rabello de Castro, who will debate on “Brazil in Latin America and Latin America in the world”. Followed by business man Paulo Skaf, president of FIESP (Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo/Sao Paulo State Industry Federation) and will cover “The challenges of the Latin-American economy”.
The debate will also count on the participation of Brazilian business people Edson de Godoy Bueno, president of Amilpar and of LIDE Empreendedor; Wesley Batista, president of JBS; Luiza Helena Trajano, president of Magazine Luiza; Marco Antonio Bologna, president of TAM; Carlos Fadigas, president of Braskem; Oscar Clarke, president of HP; Nelson Kaufann, president of Vivara/Etna; and Afonso Celso de Barros Santos, president of AVIS. The president of LIDE, João Doria Jr., and the ex-minister of Exterior Commerce Development and president of LIDE INTERNACIONAL Luiz Fernando Furlan, shall be the moderators.
As well as the participation of the most important Brazilian and Mexican CEOS and business people, the 17th MEETING INTERNATIONAL will also count on the presence of authorities of both countries governments. Confirmed are the minister of Justice José Eduardo Cardozo; The president of the Federal Chamber, Deputy Marco Maia; The governors of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin, and Minas Gerais, Antonio Anastasia; the Senator Luiz Henrique da Silveira; the ambassador of Mexico in Brazil, Alejandro De La Peña; the ambassador of Brazil in Mexico, Marcos Raposo.
Mexico was chosen to host the meeting because highlighted standing in the international economic stage and its large expansion, mostly due to its industry sector that grew approximately 5% in the last 3 semesters. Inflation in 2011 was 3,8%, against 4,4% in 2010. According to a study held by UBS Bank, the great change happened in 2010 when the country registered a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 5,5%, against a drop of 6,5% in 2009.

The “MEETING INTERNATIONAL” is held annually by LIDE- Business Leaders Group and it is the largest Brazilian event hosted outside of the country.
