With its spectacular views, great waves and incredible wildlife encounters, Punta Mita is Stand-Up Paddle’s Paradise!
Called both paddle surfing and paddleboarding, and known internationally as stand-up paddle surfing or sup paddle surfing, this increasingly popular sport first appeared in Punta Mita in 2007 and is probably the most fun thing to do during this summer!
Whether you want to surf SUP, paddle over the Marietas Islands, go for a sunset session or just paddle around the coast line, Punta Mita offers unique conditions to practice this sport with family and friends!
The origin of this water sport began in the Hawaiian Islands around the 1950′s and 60′s. Surfers used SUP as an alternative way to train when the surf was calm. And now, it’s one of the most popular sports around the globe. It is also an excellent way to enjoy the water, surrounding views and get some great workout. Learning with an expert is a great way to start on the flats and then you´ll be ready to explore some of the less known areas of the north side of Banderas Bay. With 85° and very clear waters, you can appreciate the reefs paddling in shallow waters and enjoy amazing wildlife encounters; from giant Manta Rays, turtles and dolphins, to big schools of roosterfish and mahi mahi.
