Saying bye to a vacation is always hard to do. Saying bye to Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita? These boys cried.

We booked a week at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico because we, and our kids, always had a great time at the local Four Seasons where we live in Washington, DC.

We were not disappointed. The resort itself was beautiful and pristine. After every rainstorm, staff was out immediately to clean up leaves and get rid of puddles. The rooms were gorgeous and very well kept. As we have come to expect from Four Seasons, the service was top-notch — from the GM on down. Everyone was friendly, courteous and very helpful. They seemed to be anticipating our needs rather than just reacting to them. The staff communicated very well with each other to accommodate us in every way possible.

In a trip full of highlights, what stands out most to us was our kids’ experience. Our two boys (Adam, seven, and Alex, nine) had a great time and, for the first time ever, cried on the day of our departure.

The Kids For All Seasons* club was tremendous. The staff was very sweet, and gave the boys a lot of individual attention. Activities were exciting without being exhausting, and the boys enjoyed making a bunch of keepsakes that they brought home. The new game room had all the video game systems and games (XBConnect, PlayStation 3, Wii), as well as air hockey and an awesome theater for watching movies.

The kids club wasn’t the only kid-friendly component of the resort, though. Alex and Adam loved the special treats left for them in our room: personalized cookies, kid-sized robes, Disney toothbrushes, etc. Every restaurant had a kids’ menu (and a teen menu) with a nice selection of food they like. The staff at the golf course was very generous about providing golf lessons for both boys, and the kids were really engaged.

In a sentence, this was the best family vacation we have ever taken. We absolutely intend to return to Punta Mita and try out other Four Seasons resorts.

*Kids For All Seasons (KFAS) is a Four Seasons complimentary recreational and educational program for resort guests five to 12 years old. (Children under five can join with a nanny or parent, or resorts can arrange for babysitting.) It is open 9:00 to 5:00 every day of the year. Kids can go all day or just for an hour or two. Programming includes games, activities, arts and crafts. Not your average camp, the VIP offerings are pretty extraordinary — at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru, for example, kids can help with coral reef restoration and earn a certificate for their efforts.
