Gaga goes surfing
No, your eyes do not deceive you – that is arty pop star Lady Gaga hanging 10 (or whatever) during a break from her busy touring schedule.
We’d have thought she’d be more likely to spend her spare time hanging out in debauched polysexual nightclubs, but she showed she was a bit of a natural at surfing when she caught a Mexican wave (arf arf) in Punta Mita.
Gaga managed to keep her balance on the board and strike a bit of a pose during her £145 surfing lesson.
She is taking a break down Mexico way and reportedly paying more than £4,000 per night for a luxury suite in the upmarket resort.
The Sun quoted a source as saying: “For a relative beginner she took to surfing really well. She started quite slowly learning how to body-board and then she was able to work up to standing – she made excellent progress.
“She has been very relaxed since she arrived at the resort and is looking to unwind from her punishing timetable on the road.”
Whatever next eh? Pete Doherty doing Zumba?
Lady Gaga Surfs Punta Mita
We Little Monsters in Punta Mita are going gaga over the newly released pics of mega-superstar Lady Gagasurfing our very favorite break, La Lancha, just offshore of Ranchos. Following the release by TMZ.com of the shots of Lady G’s surf lesson, Riviera Nayarit posted them on their Facebook page and viral they went, inspiring more fans to be Starstruck. Punta Mita is sure to be the new “must-visit” surf spot on savvy traveler’s agendas — we are fully expecting The Fame to follow in Gaga’s surfing footsteps.
Who did the honors in teaching Lady G to catch a wave? Well, it wasn’t Alejandro. It was our very own Josue ‘El Bota’ Villegas of Tranquilo Surf Adventures & Surf School, in Punta de Mita, a true Summerboy. We know Josue and have surfed alongside him, and so with our Telephone, we dialed him up to get the scoop. But he wasn’t having any of it. Had he been rendered Speechless by Gaga? After an initial “no comment”, Josue said he preferred to keep his conversation with The Queen of hot confidential, respecting her privacy — after all, he’s no Judas. Despite his best efforts to keep a Poker Face, we did manage to get out of him that she was really nice, that they talked a lot, and that she told him to call her Stefani.
We at LivePuntaMita.com had heard from one of our surfing residents that Gaga was said to be surfing La Lancha, and it was creating quite the commotion. Tempted as we were to experience The Edge of Glory, we held off on releasing this hot news until Gaga had safely jetted away. From the Four Seasons to the St. Regis, and our very discreet private villa managers, we in Punta Mita have a culture of not revealing our celeb and Fame Monsters‘ whereabouts while in residence. Coupled with the fact that the private, gatedPunta Mita Resort is a challenge for Paparazzi access makes this the ideal escape for some true R&R. Or at least a renowned St. Regis Bloody Mary and some Dancing in the Dark.
And Gaga — for the record, that surf break? It was Born This Way. So, come back soon!
Lady Gaga tackles a Mexican Wave: Superstar singer hangs ten as she learns to surf in a bikini with a group of friends
Lady Gaga got herself a real Mexican Wave during a visit to the North American nation. The superstar singer, 25, was pictured learning to surf with some friends this week and she appeared to take to it like a duck to water in Punta Mita, Mexico.
Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, managed to maintain her footing while riding a medium sized wave gliding through the water and keeping her balance in elegant style. The Bad Romance star wore a small wetsuit while out on the water, but soon decided to sack it off and switch to a miniscule two piece black bikini. She then returned to the water in her tiny swimwear, which appeared to give her more room for maneuver and would have pleased her large army of admirers. It certainly sexed up an otherwise run of the mill day of surfing at the Mexican beach.
According to a source who spoke to the Sun newspaper, and as can be seen in the pictures, Gaga took to surfing with ease. The source apparently said: ‘For a relative beginner she took to surfing really well.’ She started quite slowly learning how to body-board and then she was able to work up to standing – she made excellent progress. ‘She has been very relaxed since she arrived at the resort and is looking to unwind from her punishing timetable on the road.’
Gaga is usually more likely to be surfing crowds than waves, but it’s clear she has an aptitude for using surfboards. She allegedly splashed out on a £4,250-a-night hotel suite in Mexico, with insiders claiming her surfing lesson cost £145.
As well as learning to surf, Gaga unveiled the promo to her new single, You And I, earlier this week – in which she appears dressed as a man and a topless mermaid.
