Legends Tour 2022

What a week in Paris it was – beautiful blue skies at the St Cloud Golf Club 30 mins from the heart of Paris for this edition of the Senior French Open hosted by Ambassador Jean Van de Velde with a field including golf legends such as former World No.1 and 1991 Masters Winner Ian Woosnam , Ryder Cup Captain & Golf Channel commentator Paul McGinley , the colorful Italian Constantino Rocco amongst other European stalwarts.

Qué semana en París: hermosos cielos azules en el St Cloud Golf Club a 30 minutos del corazón de París para esta edición del Abierto Senior de Francia organizado por el embajador Jean Van de Velde con participantes que incluyen leyendas del golf como el ex No. .1 y el ganador del Masters de 1991, Ian Woosnam, el capitán de la Ryder Cup y comentarista de Golf Channel, Paul McGinley, el colorido italiano Constantino Rocco, entre otros incondicionales europeos.

In the Wednesday Pro-Am Punta Mita was present on the podium with Marcelo Lopez forming part of the winning team with a score of -19. Following the Pro there was a 3-day Amateur Stableford competition where 2 Pros played with 2 amateurs – the Pros for the Senior French Open Trophy and the amateurs in their respective tournament. Punta Mita was represented by over 10 players with Hugo Martinez worth a notable mention having played in the final foursome with Ian Woosman who like Hugo was in 2nd place going into the final round in Paris. Hugo finished in 9th while Woosie in 3rd place however for Hugo it was all about the memorable moment of playing in that final foursome with a Legend of Golf in such a magical setting – not to mention the pressure. The final Amateur winner as a Lady from the St Cloud Golf Club while Punta Mita’s Margaret Isberg with a solid final round finished an honorable  15th overall in the field of 46 Amateurs. A special mention to Luis Ituarte who competed in the Professionals.

En el Pro-Am del miércoles Punta Mita estuvo presente en el podio con Marcelo López formando parte del equipo ganador con un puntaje de -19. Después del Pro, hubo una competencia Stableford amateur de 3 días en la que 2 profesionales jugaron con 2 amateurs – los profesionales para el Senior French Open Trophy y los amateurs en sus respectivos torneos. Punta Mita estuvo representada por más de 10 jugadores con Hugo Martínez digno de una mención notable que jugó en el foursome final con Ian Woosman, quien al igual que Hugo estaba en el segundo lugar antes de la ronda final en París. Hugo terminó en noveno lugar mientras que Woosie en tercer lugar; sin embargo, para Hugo todo se trataba del momento memorable de jugar en ese último foursome con una Leyenda del Golf en un entorno tan mágico, sin mencionar la presión. La ganadora final Amateur como Lady del St Cloud Golf Club, Margaret Isberg de Punta Mita con una sólida ronda final terminó en un honorable puesto 15 en general de 46 amateurs. Una mención especial a Luis Ituarte que compitió en los Profesionales.

The 19th hole with the Eiffel tower in the background sharing wines from the Wines of Golf Legends with the likes of Constantino Rocco, Woosie and Jean all of whom form part of this great collection of wines was a highlight – soon to be available here in Punta Mita. The ability to play and mingle with Legends of Golf, play on a beautiful course that is St Cloud, dine in the evenings in Paris whilst happy better halves visit museums and do a touch of shopping in Paris makes this one amazing trip which this scribe hope to repeat annually. El hoyo 19 con la torre Eiffel de fondo compartiendo vinos de Wines of Golf Legends con Constantino Rocco, Woosie y Jean, todos los cuales forman parte de esta gran colección de vinos, fue un punto culminante, que pronto estará disponible aquí en Punta Mita. La capacidad de jugar y convivir con Leyendas del Golf, jugar en un hermoso campo que es St Cloud, cenar por las noches en París mientras nuestras media naranjas visitan museos y hacen un poco de compras en París hace que este viaje sea increíble y que este escriba espera poder repetir anualmente.
