Chef’s Table Brings a Taste of Argentina to Punta Mita

The latest offering from the successful Punta Mita Chef’s Table series is bringing three of the most talented culinary stars from Argentina to our sunny shores: Javier Rodriguez from Cordoba, Fernando Mayoral from Buenos Aires and Hernan Griccini from Santa Fe. 

These talented chefs will join our own Chef Pato Pérsico, who also originates from Argentina, to present a series of cooking classes and unique dining experiences in Punta Mita, including a second annual traditional Argentinian grill prepared by all three guest chefs and served in an incredible pop-up restaurant setting on the famous Tail of the Whale hole on the stunning Pacífico Golf Course, complete with tango music and Wine of Argentina providing a selection of fine wines to accompany this unforgettable culinary adventure.

This is a once in a lifetime dining opportunity as for only the 2nd time in Punta Mita’s history, we host a luncheon on this emblematic golf hole as we celebrate Masters Sunday. Come and enjoy delicious luncheon cooked out of the bunkers off Argentine style wood burning parrillas before heading back home to watch the enthralling final hours of the 2019 Masters. Fernando Mayoral
After completing his culinary studies at age 19, Chef Fernando apprenticed for several years in Buenos Aries under Maria Barrutia, before moving to Laguiole, France, to work with Michel Bras, a Michelin and Relais & Chateaux star kitchen. In San Francisco, while working at Rubicon, he discovered the flavors of Vietnam, Thailand and China found in the robust international restaurant scene of the city, which would later influence his own cooking style. He returned to Buenos Aries to open his own successful restaurant, Thymus, in Adrogué, and was also the Personal Chef to the Ambassador of New Zealand in Argentina for 7 years, before travelling to Hong Kong to work as a restaurant consultant.

 

Chef Fernando currently works in restaurant consulting, catering and as a cooking instructor in Argentina.

Javier Rodríguez
Born and raised in Santiago del Estero, the very north point of Argentina, Chef Javier began traveling the world at age 19, working in some of the most prestigious kitchens around the globe: Testsuya in Australia, 2 Michelin star Noma in Denmark, 3 Michelin star Maaemo in Norway, La Gloria in Peru, 2 Michelin star Restaurant Andre in Singapore and 1 Michelin star Viajante in England.

 

In 2015, at the age of 32, Chef Javier returned to Argentina to open El Papagayo in Córdoba, Argentina, which quickly became one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the country. He also founded El Papagayo Hospitality, a culinary consultancy which provides services to high-end hotels and restaurants in England, Luxembourg, Singapore, Bangkok, Argentina and Chile and other international locations.

Hernan Griccini
A raising star on the Argentinian culinary scene, young Chef Hernan is a gastronomic powerhouse in his own right and a founding member of GAJO, Gastronomía Joven Argentina (Young Gastronomy Argentina).

 

With over 10 years’ experience working in prestigious restaurants and hotels in Buenos Aires and abroad, Chef Hernan has done consulting work for several hotels on menu creation, group event planning and leading training programs. He is currently Executive Chef at Villa Azur in Mexico City.
