Final Registration for 8th Tail of the Whale Member-Guest Tournament

The clock is ticking as registration will shortly close for the 8th Annual Tail of the Whale Member-Guest Tournament, which kicks off on January 31th with a fabulous Opening Cocktail Party, and players taking to the course February 1st and 2nd, 2019.

This year’s event will feature a point quota system, an extremely easy and fun format to play and execute, regarded as the most effective format for neutralizing artificially high handicaps.  It also helps with pace of play, because when a player reaches gross double bogey, he or she simply picks up their ball, having achieved 0 points for that hole.  It is a low-stress system that is easy, fun and will create great energy within each flight.

EVENT FORMAT
Point Quota, with adjustment after Day 1.  Each player’s course handicap will be determined according to the January 15th USGA/MGF HDCP revision.  The course handicap is subtracted from 36 and the resulting number is the required point quota for Day 1. The team score is the combined total of both player’s point totals.  (e.g. Player A earns -4, Player B earns +6, team score is +2).

Points available:
· Eagle = 6, Birdie = 4, Par = 2, Bogey = 1, Double Bogey or worse = 0
· ALL points are based on GROSS SCORE.

Other great reasons to look forward to this year’s Member-Guest Tournament include:
1. The women’s champions will be determined in a horse race final like the men. The men’s teams will compete on Pacífico 1, 16, 17,18. The ladies will start simultaneously on 16, then 17 and 18. Refreshment stands will be set up in the Oasis Area between 1 and 16, and at Hole 18.
2. Tom Stickney, our own Golf Top 100 Teacher, will provide a photo sequence of your golf swing, suitable for framing, just like those you see of the pros in industry magazines. This is a signature event, exclusive for club member guests.
3. Parties will take place on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Most of the signature Lucky Draws will happen over a light lunch and drinks following play on Friday. By popular demand, Friday evening is open and discounts for players will be arranged at restaurants inside Punta Mita and in the surrounding community.
4. Dress Code for Saturday evening is Cocktail Smart and customized blue jackets will again be available for both men and women.

Remember, this is the final chance for registering for the 8th Annual Punta Mita Member-Guest Tournament so please contact Tom Stickney at the Punta Mita Golf Club without delay to arrange your space to participate in this wonderful event.
