Save the date – Punta Mita Gourmet and Golf Classic

Punta Mita’s most anticipated event of the year has been announced – The VII Annual American Express Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic!


Great golfing, incredible food from celebrity chefs, expert mixologists and sommeliers, specials guests, and of course, our Punta Mita residents and visitors, make this weekend one to look forward to, starting Thursday, November 30th and ending Sunday, December 3rd, 2017.


For golfers, the incomparable Lorena Ochoa, considered the best Mexican golfer of all time and Craig “The Walrus” Stadler, winner of numerous PGA championships, will be with us again this year on the golf course. And our two signature Jack Nicklaus golf courses will see some exciting competition during the two-day tournament, where 180 amateur golfers will compete for the coveted American Express Cup.


For foodies, the gastronomic experience will begin on Thursday evening with an Opening Cocktail Party presented by Aeroméxico and Delta Airlines at Playa Las Cuevas at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, where talented group of resident resort chefs will be accompanied by Chefs Richard Sandoval, Betty Vázquez, Ford Fry, Leslie Durso and Nicolás Díaz Rosáenz, to start off the weekend with a bounty of culinary delights.


Friday afternoon, chefs Abraham Salum and Matthias Fong will offer a seafood-inspired feast as a tribute to the Pacific Ocean at Kupuri Beach Club. And in the evening, guest chefs Leslie Durso, Nicolás Díaz Rosáenz and Ford Fry will offer special dinners at the Aramara and Bahia Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, chefs Franck Steigerwald and Miguel Navarro will be at Carolina, the signature restaurant at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, the Residents’ Beach Club will host Chef Betty Vázquez and Casa Palmasola will host an exclusive dinner with Chef Andrew Ormsby.


Saturday will see the conclusion of the American Express Cup golf tournament with an award luncheon, and Chef Pato Pérsico, Executive Chef of Punta Mita Beach Clubs, will welcome Chef Matthias Fong to join him in creating an exciting culinary offering at Kupuri Beach Club. The closing dinner sponsored by Travel & Leisure and The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, will be a gala event with special guest chefs from across the globe including Mallorca, Bal Harbor and the famed Pujol in Mexico City. Guests will enjoy a live auction of high luxury prizes in support of the Lorena Ochoa Foundation.


The weekend will wrap up on Sunday with the “Riviera Nayarit farewell brunch” at Kupuri Beach Club, by chefs Betty Vázquez and Marco Valdivia, ambassadors of traditional Nayarit cuisine.
